Happy 2nd Birthday Chip!

Yes, today is my birthday and I am a superhero dog ready to save all the snow!

Hmm, look at this table of goodies for my birthday party.

I really like this superhero theme.

Mom had treats made in the shapes of tennis balls since I love to play with my squeaky balls inside and outside.

Mom made me wear this superhero bandanna for the party, not my super cape.

Do I get all of these since its my birthday today?

Ok, I will share with my sisters just to stay on their good side.  I let Boo go first in picking one out.

Then I let Nala, my oldest sister pick one out.

My sister, Ariel waited patiently for her treat.

We got a birthday goody bag from our Auntie Pat.

Ariel with her treats from Auntie Pat.

Mom helped me open presents.

Dad took pictures of me with my presents.

I got a ball with my name on it!

I love all my presents I got for my birthday.

Hope  you all liked the photos from my party.

We went on a field trip today!

Hi everyone! Yes, its me, Nala.  Mom told us we were going on a field trip today.
Some of you might know the place we went to since it was on the news last night about the frozen fountain at Letchworth State Park.
Yes, can you believe mom was brave enough to take all 4 of us by herself.
Well, enjoy the pictures of our trip and I had a great time with my Sibe siblings and mom.
I made mom happy when we got there because I was hooting with the rest of my siblings in the car.

Off to the park we go!

It was nice to have the sun out today.

We are getting closer to the frozen fountain.

Wow!

Let's go mom!

The senior girls wait for mom.

Mom is having some behavior troubles with one of our siblings and I am sure most of you think its the birthday boy, but he's actually sitting waiting like a good dog for mom.  It's our little sister, Ariel.

Ok, I think we are all good now.

Hey, sister you got us tangled up again!

At least you are learning little boy how to be good.

Now are we ready/

Yes, a kind lady and man took mommy's camera for her and took some photos for us.

Yep, someone missed behaved again and mommy rode down the hill on her bottom.

At least she made it to the bottom in one piece.  As you can see most of us stayed with our mom, but one kept pulling her.  Hopefully, someday Miss Ariel learns to be better.
(I am fine, not the first or last time for this to happen. I can usually handle up to 3 by myself and I knew I was pushing it with all 4 today, but it was a fun time and who knows when we will ever see this again?)

Ok, mom is just checking leashes and taking a quick head count.

All good now.

Wow, mom can we have one of those in our yards?, ask Nala

Mom is using the treat method to get some of us to focus.

There we go, well most of us, at least.

The frozen fountain.

Here is a picture of the falls.

Another picture of the falls.

Here is a picture of the Glenn Iris Inn and the frozen fountain is off to the side of it.
It just shows you how big it is.

Another view of the park.

Mom said she wanted to leave at least one of us at the school house to learn some better manners.

On our way out of the park.

We saw a large critter on the way out of the park, a deer.
Overall, it was a fun trip to the park.  A bit of a slow ride due to the snowy, windy weather.

Update on Miss Nala...

Just wanted to update everyone on Nala and the mast cell tumor she has.
I am sure many of you have read a previous blog of what our vet told us.
Well, mommy feels more can be done to help Nala.
So, mommy called Woofies in Spencerport.  The lady that owns Woofies is an animal nutritionist.
She gave me some recommendations on what to feed Nala and the rest of the dogs too.
The key point she gave me was Dr. Alisa Koenig's name.
Dr.Koenig originally started out as a vet and when one of her horses got sick she got into the holistic approach.  Dr. Koenig's main practice is in East Aurora, NY and she comes to Avon, NY one day a week.  We were able to get into see her on Monday of this week.  She even came an hour early to see Nala.  We were there 2 hours.  Nala got a check up, nails trimmed, acupuncture and laser therapy. Nala will be put on some supplements to help her condition and her Chi.
The doctor told me how to cook for the dogs.  Dogs need protein from beef, chicken or fish and to actually use the fat from these meats after cooking them and put the fat right on the kibble.  She recommended sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, asparagus, parsley and cottage cheese.  She said make it colorful and to chop up the veggies.  And I learned my younger ones don't mind how you cook the veggies whereas my older girls Nala and Boo like them chopped up.
We go back in March for a follow up appointment and most likely more acupuncture and laser therapy for Nala.
There is something I really like about Dr. Koenig, I am not sure if it was her kindness in come in early to see Nala and/or she wasn't negative about the mast cell tumor, she gave me hope that we can help Nala.
She is amazing women.  I could have listened to her all day, very fascinating.  She explained so much about vaccines and heartworm meds and that they are pesticides we give our dogs that our vets tell us to give them.  She explained all the studies that have been done in Europe on rabies vaccines that can last 10years in a dog.  The problem is the study has only been done for 3years in the US and so, that's why dogs get them every 3years.  Finally 2 vets here in the US are in the 7th year of the rabies study to hopefully change the rabies standard.
She explained how there are no reported cases of heartworm in dogs in NY.
And that's because we get winter in NY to kill off the mosquitoes, whereas southern states don't get winter to kill off mosquitoes and dogs in the south end up with heartworm disease.
The acupuncture made Nala calm.  It was amazing. Nala was panting and then the doctor put the first needle between her ears on the top of her head, she stopped panting.  I sat there and I asked the doctor did that just calm her and yes that's what its suppose to do.
Also, Nala has been having a hard time getting down to the ground to rest with her front legs. The doctor felt she has arthritis in her elbows. Monday night when we were home Nala was able to lay down with no struggle.  So, I truly do believe the 2 therapies helped her.
We will keep you posted on Nala, but please keep sending her positive thoughts.

The sweetest picture from Valentine's day...

Chip giving his daddy a kiss for Valentine's day.

Mardi Gras time Sibe style...

Nala and Chip check out their Barkbox that came in the mail and it was Mardi Gras themed!

Ariel and her beads.

Chip hoping the treats come out of the Barkbox faster.

Ariel wasn't too fond of her crown.

See me now says Chip, wait till you see the next photo.

Yes, mom got me to do this for a treat.

Boo happy its Mardi Gras time.

A favorite photo of mine getting the 2 older girls in a photo with the little man, Chip.

I backed up a bit to get Ariel in a photo with them too.

Chip got to pick his cookie out first and he is letting Boo know that.

Here is one of the treats that came in the box.

Chip made sure he sat next to mommy to get first dibs on the goodies.

Nala and Boo

Ariel is happy sitting next to her daddy.

Chip got a new toy in the box, a jester ball.  Just perfect for him.

Chip hanging out with Ariel.

I just love his little attitude.

And yes, Nala stuck her tongue out for the photo because she didn't want little brother to get her treat, that's why her full name is: Silly Nilly Nala.
